Pickin’ and Musing: October

This month was mostly filled with heads down work, running around to meetings through crunchy leaves and soaking in the last of the garden. We spent the big night before the frost running around the garden with headlamps attempting to pick every last Habanero and Serrano. Cooler weather means the house windows are open and it’s time to bake again. I’ve been avoiding the oven due to the heat and lack of AC in our house. Most inspiration was found in nature and at one of my favorite biannual vintage markets, Gathering of Friends. They never disappoint with quality vendors and fair prices. I love taking my sweet time perusing and following that up with some more perusing. There is joy in slowing down. Not something that is natural for me but I enjoy practicing it. There’s something about this time of year where my body sort of clicks and I start to slow down and feel the stillness.

Last days in the garden

The squirrels were busy stashing little treasures around the garden. Some were better hidden than others.

Garden Walks

The garden slowly gave up the ghost this month. Many of the cold hardy greens are still holding on. This Yarrow is on its way to seed.

Loved these little pots at Andi Collective

A lovely evening perusing the latest from Morris & Co. with AJ Maison

Another great tiled entry in Wisconsin. This time near Milwaukee.

A visit to the apple orchard

For the past few years we’ve been visiting Pine Tree with my in-laws. It’s a nice way to mark the change in season. My nephews (and I) love watching the apples being sorted - especially when the conveyer is the perfect green. Hah!

Gathering of Friends

Passed by this blanket and loved it with my boat tote. Anyone else a die hard boat toter?

Parting Thought:

The only way I can describe my feelings about this is, “kombucha girl”.
