<image:title>Blog - What If: Reading Hour with Charlotte - The What If:</image:title>
<image:caption>There are quite a few “What Ifs” in this space but the star is the modular Nuage by Charlotte Perriand. When I started diving into this beloved design further I had no idea how much controversy surrounded the design’s credit. On top of that, the design itself did not have immediate success. "Undoubtedly too far ahead of her time, Charlotte Perriand did not realize that the public was not yet ready for so much freedom." Same girl, same. Read more here, here and here.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Once constructed from rough cotton, most of these vintage sacks have softened considerably over time - which would make them more ideal for soft sofa cushions. The two pictured here are fairly subdued but once you go down the rabbit hole you’ll see the color and patterns range considerably. At one point in time they were colorfully patterned and marketed for re-use as quilts and clothing (particularly during the great depression) - so why not upholstery? Love feed sacks as much as me? Check out 69 Tearz.</image:caption>

<image:caption>A few times on road I was reminded of the Barrett Pavilion. Barrett is a teeny tiny town in between Alexandria and Fergus Falls, MN. My maternal grandparents helped decorate/build the pavilion. My grandma, Kay still remembers hanging the strips of tinsel on the ceiling. I have memories here of family reunions, community church services and even a night with a rockin’ local cover band. The afternoon I took this photo, we were setting up for an evening of bluegrass, performed by my parent’s band, FlattGrass Revival.</image:caption>
