Pickin’ and Musing: July

July meant the beginnings of a 70s rumpus room, a whole lot of thrifting and some smoky air. We enjoyed some R&R at a good friend’s cabin up in Ely. It is always a treat. The long weekend was filled with nature adventures, movie nights and of course, thrifting. The smoke was impenetrable but we had to admit it was beautiful if not heartbreaking.

Down to the Studs

This late 60s/early 70s home is filled with fun details and an even ‘funner’ client. They love time capsules as much as I do. It’s been a joy to start sketching this space. I often look to raw materials for inspiration and this was no exception. I drove straight to Rockler and started dreaming up their VHS shrine.

I saw some good floors in July.

Most were in thrift store bathrooms, wayside rests and in front of antique stores

Make it stand out

I’d like to put both of these floors in this cabin.

With this rug,

these blankets,

and these flowers.

The smoky air seemed to follow us wherever we traveled this month. Eli snapped a photo on one of the clearer days.

Parting Thought:
